Great article, Kelley! I always enjoy your stories about attending USC and the early days of indie filmmaking in Portland. I'm really excited for you to complete your documentary and make a new feature film.

What a great read! My first production class was at Portland State. We used cardboard boxes that we pretended were video camera and simulated a video broadcast. Fortunately, Film educator Andries Deinum was on campus and his courses in film history and his years of experience with film making in Hollywood and Europe brought the art form to life for me. It was his letter of reference that got me into USC. What an amazing and generous individual.

I have always heard wonderful things about PSU and Andries Deinum from back in the day. A few friends of mine studied with him and said he was a great teacher. I know the UofO film program is supposed to be better now than it was back in my day, but USC will always be USC. Take care.
